Is it worth rejoicing that current Western horror is ending?

Dmitry Kosyrev

There are only two years left for the mad destruction of societies – this is predicted by the founding father and regular contributor to the American magazine The American Conserva-tive Scott McConnell. The fact is that any attacks of radicalism and repression have a shelf life, he re-minds: for the Jacobin t-error in France it was ab-out five years, for the Chinese Cultural Revolu-tion for ten years, and so on.
In the United States, too, McConnell said, the last two campaigns around local by-elections show that the mood of the voters is breaking. They no longer support the idea of depriving the police of funding, or the efforts of the Democrats to introduce into educational programs a course of explanations of how racist America is. As a result, relatively normal people (that is, Republicans) have achieved notable success this fall in Virginia, Seattle, Minneapolis… The disgrace will soon end.
The author describes this disgrace with an enormous number of letters: it is a q-uestion of a new democratic ideology, denoted by the word “awakened” (woke). This includes everything in general, but in the first place is a purely American phenomenon that gradually infected Europe and not only: black racism in all its glory. So Black Lives Matters, BLM. In Russia, this is not a topic at all, but waves of other “awakened” madness in the form of hysterics about the dying planet or about childhood traumas of each and every one on the basis of sexual violence are sweeping up to us.
But let’s take the author’s main idea that rabies, wh-ich embraces entire societi-es and even entire civilizations, inevitably breaks do-wn. But the idea is, on the whole, understandable. Le-t’s not figure out what sec-ret reptilians have organized, starting with the U-nited States, the current po-grom of Western society: there are so many people talking about this. Well, th-ere is a Trotskyist revolution with the aim of dest-roying all values- everything that holds people and societies together. Not ne-ws: everyone is discussing this. An interesting idea, however, is that there are signs of the end of this revolution. Let’s not literally follow Scott McConnell, who thinks that madness started in 2014 and will generally end in 2024: these are particulars. The main thing is that it will end someday. As it was with the great and terrible rock era of the mid 60s – mid 70s, where everything was mixed: the struggle for peace, drugs, long hair, free love, brilliant music and poetry. But somehow suddenly once – and the era of disco began, everyone went to dance in sparkles and high heels, the mass processions and communes of those who left the family and society ended.
That is, the reptilians may have planned all these things, which somehow strongly coincided with the rise and fall of another group of commercial interests, but even they cannot forever maintain the degree of hysteria in human communities, the latter are gradually tired of anything. In ten or five years, these are particulars.
And what is this – we can say to today’s, including Russian, rabid agitators for a “green world” with the closure of power plants and a ban on meat and other tasty food, that they are about to start laughing at them, and Greta Thunberg will be forgotten like a bad dream ? Can.
Or the ideology, terrible in its totalitarianism, that health is not a personal matter, but a public matter and, in addition, a violent one: will it go away? But where will it go if it has caused systemic crises in societies around the world: crises that are just beginning.
But these are all traumatized since childhood, massively raped and harassed – and they will have to rest? But how.
In general, everyone and everyone who is disposed to scrapping society under the slogan that everything old is bad and must go away can and should be said: but now you too are old and will leave, some other new will come. Those who doubt can be sent to King Solomon with his ring, on which it was written: “This too will pass.”
Here it is necessary to make several corrections to the Russian reality. The fact is that practically all the radical follies described above are a product of the vital activity of Western civilization, and this product reaches our societies only by the edge of a wave. Not to mention the fact that both in the United States and in Europe not all societies go one hundred percent crazy, not all American youth at the turn of the 60s and 70s sat in hippie camps and smoked marijuana.
But in all and every epoch we have a standard reaction to Western oddities. The first reaction is schadenfreude: let everything collapse there, so they need it. And the second: how to lower the iron curtain, to protect children from the pernicious influence of the West.
But there are several problems here. First, in the century before last and in the past, the West was almost synonymous with the world as a whole. And the current radical-leftist convulsions of the West are clearly stemming from the fact that the world has become more complex and one civilization no longer dictates new or old values to everyone else. And they know about it there. That is, now all sorts of waves will come to us from the East and other directions. And if you react to them according to the old model: gloat and not let them in, then it will turn out to be funny. This reaction did not work in previous times, although in the USSR all forces were thrown at it. So why will it work today and especially tomorrow?
Any radicalism ultimately comes down not only to a denial of the old, but also to total bans on it: bans imposed in any way – from the guillotine to the “culture of abolition”, that is, a boycott of those who disagree. Responding with bans on bans is a uniquely squalid way to deal with this ever-present problem.
And in general, is it worth rejoicing that the current Western horror is ending if we have no idea what will begin at the next stage? But it will begin, Solomon was not mistaken.
