‘It didn’t work out’: In Kiev, the culprit in the failure of the big attack on Crimea was found

Vladimir Kornilov

So, the forum “Crimean Platform” took place in Kiev, which its organizers called “constituent”. True, following the results of this event, the Ukrainians themselves ask the question: what did he establish? Representatives of Western states and structures gathered, played long-worn discs about the “Russian threat” and signed a strange document, which, it seems, had not really been read, calling it the “Crimean Declaration.” In general, one could say “the mountain gave birth to a mouse”, but in this case it is more likely not a mountain, but a mouse fuss gave birth to a kind of “platform”.

An attempt to figure out whether the organizers succeeded in their plans comes across a serious problem: no one really explained the final idea, and if they tried to do this, they themselves got confused or uttered outright absurdities.

Long before the announced event, journalists were trying to get a clear answer from representatives of the Kiev authorities about what they want to get from the meeting, which Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov called “another sabbath.” Ultimately, the answer was formulated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmitry Kuleba, who said : “Either you sit and do nothing, wait” for the rooster to whistle, “or you help the rooster in every possible way. That’s all. This is a strategy.” That is, we will fix: the task of this pretentious and expensive (fabulous fee of the singer Jamala for a single song is just what is worth!) Event was reduced to making some roosters whistle something.

By the way, you will not believe, but the “platform” was prepared in the same highly intellectual terms and at a completely official level. For example, while developing scenarios for the “de-occupation” of the peninsula, the organizers of the event called one of them: “Crimea – Ukraine’s steel eggs.” This is not a joke, it is presented on the official website of the “platform” as a serious analyst. So Kuleba with “whistling roosters” looks quite at the level of his strategists – everything is in the spirit of “Quarter-95”.

It should be noted that the leaders of Ukraine were again greatly let down by their masters. How Zelensky tried to personally invite the first persons of his main patrons – the United States, Britain, Turkey, France and Germany. They constantly assured Kiev of support for the undertaking, but they themselves reduced and reduced the level of their representation, eventually sending ministers. Zelensky was especially saddened by London, which a week ago promised the presence of at least the Minister of Defense on the “platform”, and as a result, the second-rate politician of the Conservative Party, Wendy Morton, who is in the position of “junior minister” for European Neighborhood Affairs, arrived. Angela MerkelDemonstratively visited Kiev on the eve of the event, but left before its opening, delegating instead of herself the Minister of Energy and meeting in this regard rather boorish questions from Kiev journalists. In general, even the Ukrainian press was forced to admit that the status event did not work out. The organizers themselves in advance dumped the blame for this on Russia, which was allegedly engaged in “minimizing the participation of countries in the summit.” There is no one else to blame.

All this motley audience, gathered in Kiev, would be extremely surprised if they heard on the eve of the numerous statements by Zelensky and Kuleba about their vision of the office of the “Crimean Platform”, which was created in Kiev. For example, the President of Ukraine repeated several times that this structure will deal with legislative initiatives on Crimea for Zelensky himself. It turns out that the leaders and ministers of different countries came to help in the creation of another advisory body for Bankova. But in this case, a logical question arises: why does Zelensky need numerous amusing structures like the “Crimean administration”, ” the Crimean prosecutor’s office “, which are mainly located in Kherson and have been portraying there a semblance of violent activity for seven years?

Zelensky’s Western guests would have been even more surprised to learn that from now on, having recklessly arrived in Kiev, they owed something to this “platform.” Kuleba said so : each country participating in the event “undertakes certain obligations.” That is, Kiev again decided that it was signing a “Budapest Memorandum” with unsuspecting guests, to which the Ukrainian participants of the “Sabbath” actively referred during their speeches. And the direct subordinates of Kuleba are already directly hinting that they will knock money for the annual “platforms” from international donors, all the way to the UN. This is quite in the style of Ostap Benderwith his immortal formula: “The West will help us. Be brave. The complete secret of contributions, that is, of the organization.”

The lack of understanding of the ultimate goal of the event led to the fact that its participants spoke each of their own, as if they were present at different meetings. Someone talked about Stalin, someone about green energy, someone about the need for reforms in Ukraine, someone about “political repression” in Russia. The speech of Hungarian President Janos Ader, who focused on the infringement of the linguistic and ethnic rights of the Hungarian population of Ukraine, was a complete shock for the organizers of the “platform”. Judging by the sour faces of the representatives of the Ukrainian delegation, they obviously wanted to hear something different from the guest. Ministers from the countries of the Old West pretended that they did not understand what rights they were talking about.

They were also not interested in the attempts of the journalists of the opposition Ukrainian TV channels, banned by the authorities, to convey to the distinguished guests information about such a gross violation of elementary rights and freedoms. It was in Moscow that Merkel did not fail to mention “freedom of speech” and “persecution of the opposition” in Russia, but during her visit to Kiev she did not respond to the call of opposition journalists to listen to them.

So the participants of the “platform” tore their hair out, talking about the suffering that allegedly befell the inhabitants of Crimea after the “occupation”, but diligently avoided the topic of the Ukrainian blockade of the peninsula’s water supply. None of them noticed the fact that Zelensky banned this at the legislative level literally on the eve of the arrival of the delegations. Such is the love for the Crimea and the people inhabiting it.

The declaration adopted by the summit is also teeming with similar double standards, testifying to the complete lack of logic and consistency among its drafters. For example, it obliges Russia to “end the temporary occupation” of Crimea and immediately demands that Russia “fulfill its obligations as an occupying state.” The authors themselves are clearly confused about whether Russia should first leave Crimea and then occupy it, or vice versa.

The authors of the text also try to give a timid answer to the numerous questions of journalists about what, after the creation of the fateful “platform”, Ukraine and the allies who have joined it are going to do for the final “de-occupation”. It turns out that the answer is banal: again to impose sanctions against Russia. Moreover, the wording is rather toothless: “When it is necessary and if Russia’s actions require it.” That is, maybe never.

It is unlikely that among the participants of the “Crimean Platform” gathered on Monday, there are people so naive who themselves believe in the possibility of Russia abandoning its region. Even Zelenskiy admitted on the sidelines that the Ukrainian blockade “would not help” return either Crimea or Donbass to Ukraine. But he continues to play his part. After all, he once explained all this, while still being a comedian of “Kvartal”: “I, of course, hardly believe in it. But, as president, I am obliged to instill in you… faith in tomorrow.”

Some Ukrainian and European experts, discussing the perspective of the “Crimean Platform”, pin their hopes for the return of the peninsula to only one thing: the collapse of Russia and the upheavals there along the lines of 1917 and 1991. They see no other options.

These expectations staffing Russophobes Vladimir Putin gave an answer, speaking at a joint press conference with Angela Merkel: “Its a limit on Russian revolution exhausted back in the XX century”. Our opponents can wait a long time for the collapse of Russia (in the words of Kuleba, “while the cock whistles”), create various “platforms” and threaten with new sanctions. But the effect from them will be the same as before: the roosters will not whistle, the fried crayfish will not bite anyone. Unless Ukraine will again knock someone off another grant for another anti-Russian show. Actually, for this, the “Crimean Platform” was started. There is no other meaning in it. This venture has absolutely nothing to do with the Crimea and the Crimeans.
